The Art Therapy, Divorce and Grief Project

Explore here for information about my research at the intersection of Art Therapy, divorce and grief

In 2026 I graduated from Seattle Central College with a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science. (I'll be going on to work on my LMHC degree with Art Therapy focus, stay tuned for updates about that! ).

The capstone project was near my heart. I worked with 4 recently divorced women for 4 weeks, exploring and arc of 4 art therapy directives I co-created with my Art Therapy mentor Joanna Warren. My goal; to see how targeted art therapy could support the particular grief associated with divorce or separation.

Grief comes in many forms. We can grieve the loss of a person, certainly, but what about the way we might grieve our new family structure, having to let go of hopes, dreams, ideals? What about the way grief sits in us? Grief is complicated, hard to touch, sometimes grief lives in pre-verbal places or sits in our bodies in ways that talk therapy can't easily find.

My research here looks at what happens when art therapy is applied to identify, connect to, and move grief out.

Below are links to my research, my findings and conclusions. You can also find out more about me and why I chose to do this work.
